The beginning.....

This was a letter of recommendation for an award after only knowing Chris for 3 years and I thought I'd share it with you all.

I first met Councillor Bond in April 2012 when I became the Chair of The Friends of Albany Park.  Immediately he offered his support and his knowledge to us as a new group.  Within weeks he’d helped us to put on our first ever event, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee (June 2012), where thanks to his support and encouragement, over 1000 local residents attended.

Ever since then, Councillor Bond has always been there for anyone who has needed his assistance – even in wards that are not his.  Everyone that has sought his help through me has always come back saying how helpful he is and how he actually cares about the people of Enfield.  No matter what the problem or enquiry, Councillor Bond has always come through with answers and action where needed.  It makes no difference to him if you’re an individual or a group seeking his help, he always gives you 100% of his time, knowledge and help, no matter what time it is or what day even – he’s always available.

I feel that Enfield is truly blessed to have such a man representing them, speaking up for them, assisting them and supporting them.

The Friends - through his help and involvement alone, have become a big part of the community’s everyday lives.  He’s helped with getting new play equipment in the park, cleaning it up, getting volunteers qualified to lead waterway clean up’s in Turkey brook, stamping out gangs and drugs in our park and getting it back to a safe and enjoyable place for families again.

Also, his determination to improve our local community, led to us being successful in turning a disused bowls club into a Community Hub and café within the park, where we now source most of our vegetables and dairy along with being available to the public for healthy lifestyles – again something else Councillor Bond supported - the Community Growing Space Councillor Bond pushed for.

He understands, appreciates and supports our volunteers and residents wholeheartedly, and it’s genuine.   He empowers and inspires all those that come into contact with him.

I truly believe that he deserves a lot more recognition for all the work he has done for people within the borough, and hope that he gets it.
