My cousin Christopher.

During my childhood I remember many enjoyable family holidays in Edmonton and Enfield with my cousins Christopher and Anne. We gambled on cards and racing and roulette with our pennies and halfpennies: we had a lot of fun.  I was always amazed at all the LP’s in Chris’ room! So many! There was one I particularly remember: Chris showed it to me just after he’d bought it: the John and Yoko Two Virgins LP before it was censored. I was a bit surprised and probably giggled quite a bit: I was a young teenager at the time.

Time moves on and we get older but it was always good how we could chat and have a laugh together even though we didn’t see each other very often.

I stayed with Chris for a weekend in November 2011. Greenpeace had sent me 2 tickets to go on the new Rainbow Warrior so we both went to the Docklands on the Sunday and roamed around the ship and the exhibition area. I drove and Chris navigated: my car of course not the ship!  I certainly did not need the Satnav that day. The weather was kind to us as you can see in the photograph. It was nice to spend some quality time with him and to see the family.

Chris was so blessed to have Joe and Briony and the children just around the corner. He sent me many a photo of the children: and sometimes an update on himself, which I am thankful for and always raised a smile and many times a good laugh but not quite like Chris’ hearty laugh. You couldn’t lose him; you just listened for the unmistakable laughter.

God rest your soul Chris, rest in peace. Lots of love and prayers from Carol xx Be missing you.
